WipedOut was born in Vancouver, BC, out of a simple frustration: why are we still using plastic sponges in 2026? Every year, billions of synthetic sponges end up in landfills and oceans, slowly breaking down into microplastics that pollute our waterways and harm marine life. We knew there had to be a better way.

The Switch That Started It All

We set out to find a sponge that actually works — one that cleans just as well as the plastic version, but leaves no trace behind. The answer was cellulose: a natural, plant-based material made from wood pulp that biodegrades completely at the end of its life. No plastic. No guilt. Just a seriously clean kitchen.
