Why We Started

Every year, billions of synthetic sponges are thrown away across North America. Made from petroleum-based plastic foam, they don't biodegrade — they just break down into microplastics that end up in our oceans, our waterways, and eventually our food. We started WipedOut because we knew there was a better option, and we wanted to make it easy for everyone to access it.
